Check the paths your customers use
Walk through your main customer journeys regularly: navigate to a service, follow a call to action and try your enquiry method. Check the experience on a phone as well as a larger screen.
For a server-backed form, confirm that a test enquiry reaches the expected destination. For an email link, verify the address and make it clear that visitors need an email app to send their message.
Keep information accurate
Review contact details, service descriptions, operating information and links when your business changes. Remove outdated offers and replace missing images.
Check that each page has a useful title and that visitors can find important information through the menu. Small content fixes often make a meaningful difference.
Maintain the underlying software
If your website uses a CMS, plugins or server-side dependencies, track updates and test changes before applying them to the live site when possible. Remove components that are no longer needed.
A plain HTML website has fewer moving parts, but its hosting configuration, linked services and any third-party scripts still need attention.
Prepare for recovery
Keep copies of your website files and any database or uploaded content your site depends on. Store backups separately from the live deployment and confirm that you can restore them.
Record who can access the domain and hosting, and who should handle an outage. Set a review schedule that fits how often your website changes.
